How do I join band?

Sign up for Symphonic Band on your class schedule for the 2012-2013 school year.  This does mean that your career elective for your freshmen year will be a computing class.  This is unavoidable.  However, after freshmen year you get to choose electives!

How do I join MARCHING BAND?

Sign up for Symphonic Band on your class schedule; turn in a $200 deposit (for summer band camp at Oxford College), and sign a commitment form located on the website and submit to Mr. Williams by April 2.  You are required to attend camp, to attend all rehearsals, and to go to all DHS Varsity football games.

How can I do band in high school in addition to a sport?

Band time commitment is only during the class day.  We have a few rehearsals after school to put everyone together for concerts and performances, and there is one Saturday commitment in February.  We have students in band who play lacrosse, run track, are on the swim team, play soccer, etc.  You can definitely do band and other things!

Are there fundraisers to offset costs?

Yes, in fact students raise money through fruit sales, concessions sales, and our newest fundraiser, SCRIP.  If you have any questions, please see our website!

What are the costs of doing concert band?

Concert band only asks for a $50 contribution for the entire year to pay for additional staff members, additional instrument rentals, and additional instructional materials.

Marching Band has additional costs ranging from $400-$500 per school year. This includes band camp (Lodging, food, instruction, and games/entertainment for  one week), instruction (professional musicians that come in and teach the students), t-shirts, and uniform cleanings throughout the year.
