The Decatur High School band program is composed of two concert bands, a jazz band, several chamber ensembles, a percussion ensemble, and the world-traveling marching band. The band gives several concerts throughout the year, including a “Prism” concert in the fall, a holiday concert in the winter, and a pops concert in the spring. The band also can be seen at all football games cheering on our own Decatur Bulldogs, as well as the new addition of a basketball pep band.

Several members of the Decatur band audition for All-State, All-District, the January High School Band Festival at the University of Georgia, and the Governor’s Honor’s program. Decatur band students perform frequently throughout the year work and hard to achieve excellence and to represent DHS well. Subscribe to our calendar so you don’t miss a thing!

The band is supported by the Decatur High School Band Parents Association, a non-profit parent volunteer organization.The mission of the DHSBPA is to support the Decatur High Band program, including financial support to supplement funds from the City Schools of Decatur (CSD) and parental involvement in band activities. The overall goal is to provide an enriching band experience for all students who participate in the band.
